Book Synopsis
The Secret Witness is the first installment of the Shepard and Gray series and focuses on the investigations of a young sheriff and a former prosecutor who set out to stop a copycat killer.
This is Reaper speaking.
Thus begins the anonymous letter published in a Utah newspaper after the brutal murder of a young couple. It has been eight years since the serial killer calling himself Reaper has committed his last murders, but this fresh round of killings calls into question the killer's identity. Tooele County Sheriff Elizabeth Gray is in charge of investigating this eerily familiar new case, but after the note leads detectives to a new body, she calls for help from her old friend.
Solomon Shepard is a former prosecutor trying to recover from the courtroom attack that stopped his career in its tracks. But, at Gray's urging, he decides to tackle this new case with her, leading the two to begin their investigation to unravel the unhinged plots of a copycat killer.
The Secret Witness has elements of classic mysteries such as G. M. Malliet's Augusta Hawke series, as well as the more suspenseful action of Ava Strong's Dakota Steele series. Filled with anticipation from start to finish, fans of both classic detective stories and action-packed legal thrillers will love this new series from Victor Methos.
